Israel’s kings are measured by one haunting line repeated throughout Scripture: he did what was right in the eyes of the Lord, but the high places were not removed. They followed God, yet something remained standing that He had asked them to tear down.

Tara Jordan
Tara Jordan is a wife, mother, and worship leader who has spent years chasing hard after Jesus, and is now, for the first time, an author. She and her husband serve on the worship team at Kaufman County Christian Center in Kaufman, Texas, where he serves as worship pastor.
The High Place: Tearing Down What Competes With God began more than two years ago, in the middle of an ordinary study. Tara was reading Ephesians 6, the passage about wrestling not against flesh and blood but against spiritual wickedness in high places, and one phrase wouldn't let her go. How does wickedness exist in the high places? The question sent her back through the Old Testament, into the high places themselves: what they were, what God commanded be done with them, and why so many of them kept standing anyway.
What she found became this book. The High Place walks through that history and then brings it home, because if we're not careful, high places still take hold in our lives today. It's an honest look at strongholds, grounded in Scripture, and it's written to lead somewhere: freedom.
